PASCO, Wash. - A La Clinica board member is suing the clinic and asking a judge to remove the board.
Thursday attorneys gave their opening statements in the case. Board member Miguel Wong claims La Clinica C.E.O. Francisco Castillon misled him and other members. Wong's attorney cited examples where financial numbers didn't add up, and the C.E.O. withheld information about it from board members.
Wong said he had to take legal action. Castillon said he's eager to address the allegations.
"Since I came to the board, I witnessed a lot of wrongdoings, oppressive actions, mismanagement, they misplaced funds, they controlled the board," said Wong.
"We are very optimistic that once all the facts come out that you will see that all the actions and the decisions were for the benefit of La Clinica," said Castillon.
Both men hope La Clinica patients continue to seek care.
