KENNEWICK, Wash.-- A young Marine is making the Tri-Cities proud. Garrett Brim received the honor of young Marine of the year, competing against six other states in the region.
"There are lots of good young marines in Arizona and California. I never expected this to happen," said Brim.
His fellow young marines were there to celebrate with him along with his parents, who say what a good kid he is.
"He's really able to work hard, and he makes everybody proud, makes us us proud that he is our son," said Scott Brim, Garrett's father.
Garrett is going to Florida in May to compete for the young marine of the year national award, but for now he shares this honor with his fellow young marines. "It's not just what I've done to distinguish myself above the others, it's how I trained young marines that distinguishes me," he said.
