BENTON CITY, Wash.-- The deaths of Ellen and Elizabeth Schalchlin shocked many in the community. Both women were brutally stabbed at their home in West Richland on December 19th.
Ellen's son Donald and friend Joshua Tucker are still being questioned by police on this case. But on Sunday, those who knew the women came to Ki-Be Middle School to show their support.
Ellen's younger sister says she's thankful.
"It was very nice, very kind and considerate seeing everybody show up and give their kindness and their support," said Mary Beth Dolan, Ellen Schalchlin's sister.
Ellen's other son Steven also gave thanks.
"I just want to say I appreciate everything you've done for me, you've been there for my family and it won't be forgotten," he said.
One by one the hands kept going up. Teachers, co-workers, and friends all wanting to share some of their best memories.
"She was cheery the whole time, she didn't have a sad moment," said Darnell Fowler, one of Elizabeth's friends.
"She made an impact on me and I'm sure that both of them have made an impact on you, so I just want to say I'm just so proud to have known her, and I say to Steven and the rest of the family thank you for the opportunity we did have to know her and I know you'll miss her and we will too," said Vivian Terrell, who worked closely with Ellen Schalchlin.
