A fatal collision on highway 395 at around 5 a.m. Sunday, caused traffic back-ups for more than an hour.
47-year-old Francisco Alvarez-Rivas was driving southbound on 395 when his 1993 Infiniti rolled over the median crossing into the northbound lanes.
The man was already dead when police arrived at the scene. They say the two other passengers inside the vehicle fled the scene.
Police think the crash might have involved alcohol because of what they found inside the vehicle.
"There were beer bottles outside the car, some were open and some were not and the odor of intoxicants was very heavy around the vehicle," said Trooper David Brandt from the Washington State Patrol.
The accident also took down a couple of roadway signs along the highway. Police say no other vehicles were involved in the crash, and the victim was wearing a seatbelt.
