Family awaits arrival of their son from Iraq

Posted: Updated:

A local soldier returned home Sunday for the first time since he finished boot camp.  21 year old Private First Class Derek Wilson, from Dixie has been in Iraq for more that a year
and he has kept his family waiting for his return.

And three hours after they arrived at the airport they were still waiting. Friends, family, and ACES were at the Pasco Airport waiting for his plane to come in and it kept getting delayed.

Wilson's mom said its hurry up and wait, there has been two planes now since we got here and it would be really awesome if he would just pop up and be on one of them.

His family got a call from him Saturday night from Ireland saying he was going to be home Sunday evening and ever since then they have been waiting. They said he will be home for 18 days before returning to Iraq. Private Wilson serves as an infantry specialist and his unit is expected home this summer.
