PASCO, Wash.--Members of the Columbia Basin Veteran's Coalition met today for a big announcement. Retired Colonel Felix Vargas will assume role of Director of Government Affairs for the (Columbia Basin) Veteran's Coalition.
Colonel Vargas said he is committed to building a Veteran's Center in Benton and Franklin County, hopefully in Pasco. He is planning on meeting with state officials to figure out ways to fund a new Veteran's center.
"We would look to the federal government again with the active support of our congressional delegation to provide important funding," says Vargas. Beyond that, there is the private sector."
The Port of Pasco was originally slated to select the best option for use of the Wagenaar Reserve Center. But they gave up that control. Colonel Vargas mentioned how that will greatly help their case for a facility.
