Warning To Tri-Cities Drivers After Black Ice Wednesday Morning

Posted: Updated:

KENNEWICK, Wash. - Kennewick Police say drivers are slipping and sliding all over.   They've counted at least 7 car accidents dealing with black ice Wednesday morning.

All the snow and slush that melted on area roads on Tuesday during the day has now turned into black ice in some parts and many drivers don't realize it.

Police have seen a number of people slide through red lights because they couldn't stop in time.

Kennewick Officer Joe Jackson said, "Now that people are able to see the roadways they have a false sense of security and probably don't realize how slick the roads are right now."

Police said many people that are speeding are driving big trucks.

They warn people not to drive if they do not have too.

They also encourage drivers to leave plenty of space between cars.
