DOT running out of room for snow on Snoqualmie Pass
Snoqaulmie Pass, WA - All the snow on Snoqualmie Pass has created a big dilemma for the d-o-t crews.
Where exactly are they supposed to put it??
DOT engineers say this year ranks right up there with some of the heaviest snow seasons.
It's snowed six and a half feet in just the last six days.
And in some spots along the interstate, there's just no room for any extra snow.
"In some locations, you are exactly right," says Don Whitehouse, DOT Regional Administrator, "We actually have no space to put that snow and we can't put it on those very steep slopes because it will slide back down."
Whitehouse says they have been forced to close off the roadway so they can blow the snow over to the other side.
He did express concern about a warm spell, which could cause flooding in the western cascade and increase the avalanche danger again.
