Ellensburg Animal Shelter Pushing for a Million Dollar Makeover

Posted: Updated:

ELLENSBURG, Wash.- Public programs jump through so many different hoops to get funding, but an Ellensburg animal shelter is barking up a different tree. Rather than going after state and federal money, the City of Ellensburg Animal Shelter signed up for a contest to win a million dollar makeover. Workers say the building is old, too small, and with more and more animals being brought in by the day. They just can't keep up.

3800 shelters across the nation have signed up for the makeover contest. Right now the Ellensburg shelter is in sixth place. If it finishes in the top 20, it'll get $5,000, and if it makes it to number one, a million dollar makeover.

The shelter is asking for your help. All you have to do is register on the contest website and vote for the Ellensburg shelter.
