KENNEWICK, Wash.- Congressman Doc Hastings is angry with the President's proposal to cut Hanford cleanup funding by tens of millions of dollars.
The Congressman says he'll oppose the proposal that he says would slow cleanup and put jobs on the line for many workers.
He says the government has an obligation to fund the projects they signed off on, and this proposal doesn't do that.
"When the federal government doesn't fund their obligations then that slows the whole process down and I don't think that's, I don't think that's good especially with the river corridor contract which has been fairly successful. It's been ahead of schedule," Congressman Hastings said.
Hastings notes no President's budget has ever been accepted by congress so it's almost guaranteed some changes will be made.
