Kennewick Girl's Photo Featured on Boxes of Camp Fire USA Candy
Kennewick -- Thousands of kids sell Camp Fire USA candies, but this year a Kennewick girl is not only selling them, her face is on the box.
Cierra Schmidt's picture, which was taken at Liberty Park in Pasco last year, was chosen from hundreds of photos submitted nationally.
The six year old Canyon View Elementary studen was quiet and demure during an interview Wednesday, but did point out that she's lost a few teeth since the photo was taken, and that she is a kind of 'embarrassed' to be seen on the box.
Meanwhile, Cierra's Aunt, Erin Schmidt, who is a Camp Fire Kids leader, said that her niece wants the special award that goes with selling 125 boxes of candy. Cierra, when asked whether her picture on the box of the Almond Caramel Clusters might boost sales, raised her eyebrows and said nothing.
Time will tell. The candy officially goes on sale Saturday, primarily at Fred Meyer and Wal-Mart stores.
