YAKIMA, Wash. -- The Fraternal Order of Eagles recently decided to move to a smaller location because of declining membership. The move, however, could deliver a knock out blow to their longtime boxing club.
The Yakima Eagles Boxing Club has been practicing and holding events in the F.O.E.'s basement for more than 30 years. They have been allowed to use the basement as their gym, free of charge.
The building has already been sold, and the club is hoping the new owners will let them stay.
"It's a good tax write off for them," says boxing trainer John Drakes. "A lot of kids that we get down here have been in trouble in school, at home, or elsewhere."
The Yakima Eagles Boxing Club practices every weekday at 6 p.m.
