KENNEWICK, Wash. - Reports of damages around the Columbia Basin caused by strong wind gusts are coming in.
Wind ripped a section of framework off a building under construction on West Rio Grande Avenue, next door to the Bank of Whitman on Grandridge Boulevard in Kennewick. Nails are poking out of the wood after being pulled from the frame and 2x4's snapped in two creating a pile of scraps on the site.
In West Richland, police say a tree fell on a house across the street from Tapteal Elementary on 62nd Avenue yesterday. They tell us the house suffered minor damages.
Kennewick Police officers say a street sign broke off a street light on Kennewick Avenue and Yelm Street due to high winds.
Weather reports say winds got as high as 40 mph in the tri-cities while 78 mph winds were reported in Benton City.
