Students Make Pillows For Heart Patients

PASCO, Wash. - Elementary students in Pasco are sending gifts to patients at Kadlec Medical Center, that come from the heart.

4th graders at Maya Angelou Elementary are sewing and stuffing heart pillows for heart surgery patients.  Each student designed their own pillow, and they participated in each step to turn their artwork into something to comfort patients during recovery.

"We're doing the pillows for the hearts. So we can help people with heart surgery," said Gabrial Garza, 4th grader.

"The places where they had surgery it would hurt and pain, but with these it can help them not hurt," said Elizabeth, a 4th Grader in Mrs. Banta's class.

"So when they get these pillows it won't hurt them when they walk," said student Andy Ha.

"It's really helpful, and giving and it has them feel good inside," said Alycca Olivera, 4th grader.

Students and teachers from three classes will donate 90 pillows.  Kadlec will receive them February 21st.
