Benton & Franklin Counties Release 2007 Crime Stats

KENNEWICK, Wash.--According to police and sheriff deputies, crime is down in both Benton and
Franklin Counties. Department chiefs and sheriff's met at Kennewick police headquarters for the annual announcement.

Violent crime in the Tri-Cities is down by 13 percent while non-violent crime was cut by eight percent. Kennewick police Chief Ken Hohenberg said the crime rate in the Tri-Cities per 1,000 people is 32.5 percent.

That's below the national average of 37 percent. Even with lower crime totals, the calls for help are rising.
