The Benton Franklin Community Action Committee has numbers from a survey to assess the number of homeless in the area, and the numbers are down from last year.
They accounted for 463 homeless people, which is down from 704. They credit the success to funding and grants from the state and county along with the help of the community.
But to keep the numbers at bay more help is needed. The Community Action Committee continues to ask for support from property landlords to work with helping the homeless to become self sufficient members of society.
