RICHLAND, Wash.-- Some Richland residents went outside to a surprise. Their mail boxes were blown up.
Friday night Richland police and the bomb squad responded to several calls. As of Saturday afternoon, it looked like the mail boxes had already been replaced.
One of vandalized boxes was on the 900 Block of Sirron and the other one was at 103 Orchard Way. Police say these crimes are not unusual but must be taken seriously.
"The reality is that any type of chemical bomb is very dangerous and it's a serious crime and if those things are to detonate and injure somebody then the person that plant it is responsible," said Corporal Wayne Dubois, with Richland Police Department.
No injuries are reported at this time from either one of the incidents, but police say these explosions could hurt anyone walking by. Anyone responsible for these types of crimes can face jail time and a heavy fine.
