Washington. - The Department of Licensing says watch out for a new scam targeting Washington car owners.
The Department of Licensing says telephone solicitors posing as DOL representatives are contacting people and telling them their vehicle tabs are expired. They then ask for credit card information to renew the tabs over the phone.
The Department of Licensing says they do not contact vehicle owners by phone and vehicle renewals are never processed over the phone either.
Car owners say they receive either a recorded message or they begin to receive a recorded message but a person claiming to be a DOL representative comes on the line during the message. Some have reported getting several of these calls.
If you receive a call like this contact the Department of Licensing.
