KENNEWICK, Wash.- If you have credit cards you're probably used to those pre-approved notices that show up in your mailbox full of your personal information.
The Washington Attorney General is giving you a way to stop them from showing up again.
There's now a website set up that allows you to opt out of those pre-approved orders that put your identity at risk.
The new site is called www.optoutprescreen.com.
It allows you to remove your name from any of those lists for at least the next five years or permanently remove yourself.
There is one downside to this, you need to give your social security number to sign up, but the credit bureaus say your information will be safe.
You can also sign up to stop getting so-called credit convenience checks in the mail, those are the checks you can write from your credit card account.
