Yakima Firefighters Prepare for Charity Stair Climb
YAKIMA, Wash - Twelve Yakima firefighters are training to participate this Sunday in the "Firefighter Stairclimb" in Seattle's Columbia Center Building. It is the second tallest building west of the Mississippi River. The event raises money for the "Leukemia and Lymphoma Society," but firefighters also go for the competition.
"It is bragging rights, every time we go in there we have dinners riding on this," sayd Matt Davis of YFD.
Each firefighter will have an oxygen mask on and will be wearing 80 pounds of gear. There are 13,000 steps in the Columbia Center Building. If you would like to make a donation to the event, you can stop by any Yakima fire station.
