YSO Detectives say leads in August murder have dried up

Posted: Updated:
Yakima, WA -  The Yakima Sheriff's Office says after almost seven months, the murder investigation of Laynah Beth Myers has nearly run dry.

They say they stopped receiving tips several months ago.

Now, there's not much they can do except put out her picture and the information related to her case and hope more tips come in.

The 26-year-old Myers was last seen on August 10th, 2007.

Detectives say she left Hoops Tavern in Yakima with a couple in her car.

They found her car abandoned and burned on the Yakama Reservation August 24th.

Her body was found in a irrigation pond just outside of Wapato a little more than a week later.

Detectives say Myers was killed with a single gun shot to the back of her head.

"The problem with the case...  it's mostly difficult because of her lifestyle," Detective Dave Johnson of the Yakima Sheriff's Office, "She lived on the streets and in different areas.  She had hung around drug users.  She had problems in the past.  She had been trying to get out of it."
