Truck Catches Fire With Explosive Gases in the Back
RICHLAND, Wash. -- A vehicle catches fire driving down the highway. Other drivers rush to motion the burning truck's driver to the side of the road.
At about 6:30, a Ford truck was heading east down Van Giesen, when firefighters say it caught fire. The dangerous part was what they found in the back of the car. Two gas canisters used for welding sat in the bed of the truck as the flames continued to build.
Fearing the canisters could explode, firefighters poured as much water, as fast as they could on the fire. Fortunately, they were able to get the flames out fast enough.
Neither the driver, 40-year-old Rito Navidad, or any of his three passengers were seriously hurt. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
