White Pass Celebrates Winter Carnival

Posted: Updated:

WHITE PASS, Wash. -- Snow was falling today at White Pass on their annual Winter Carnival.

General Manager Kevin McCarthy says there were more people there this year than most years, but equally as much to do.

McCarthy says, "There's people that come up here only for this weekend and have never skied or snowboarded in their life, but they come up today just to see the castle and let the kids play."

Every kid at White Pass today will tell you the castle is the place to be.

One group of kids said, "Its awesome. We like climb on the walls."

"You get to slide down the hill in a tube and its really fun.... And they said this was the biggest one they ever had," said the Monahan brothers.

The castle isn't the only snow sculpture here either. Sculptors from the northwest and all over the country were on hand building two other scenes in the snow.

The carnival also featured games cotton candy and fireworks later tonight.

If you didn't make it up to the winter carnival today then you still have time, the carnival runs through tomorrow.
