Police Searching for a Suspect involved in Early Morning Car Theft.
PASCO, Wash. - Pasco and Kennewick Police are searching for a suspect in an early morning car theft that led police on a high speed chase.
A homeowner on the 7200 block of West Yellowstone in Kennewick told police he heard his vehicle start up and then saw it drive off. Kennewick police later found the car driving East on Highway 240. That's when the chase began and continued over the Blue Bridge into Pasco. It ended in a parking lot West of Edgar Brown Memorial Stadium on West Sylvester Street.
The two men jumped out of the car and started running. A K-9 unit tracked down one of the suspects, 19-year-old Fransico Montalvo of Pasco, hiding inside a dog house in a yard nearby. Police continue to look for the second suspect.
Kennewick Police, Pasco Police, Franklin County Sheriffs, and the Washington State Patrol responded to find the suspects. Close to 10 city blocks between Sylvester Street and West Yakima Street and 18th Avenue and 12th Avenue were blocked off.
Montalvo was taken into custody and booked into the Benton County Jail for Eluding a police vehicle and theft in the first degree.
