RICHLAND, Wash.--From what KNDU has learned, there is only one location in the Tri-Cities that sells Biodiesel. And its in Richland.
The Pacific Pride gas station off of State Route 240, near the Richland Airport, sells it. For three years, supplier Connell Oil company in Pasco has been offering Biodiesel to local farmers, drivers, and even government agencies.
A Connell Oil employee says the fuel has been in demand for some time. Ask Tim Smith. His Dodge truck has a Diesel engine. And only Biodiesel is acceptable.
"It's a cleaner environment I guess," says Smith. We can reuse oils out there that we have and things like that."
If you think Biodiesel is a lot cheaper than Diesel, it's not. There is only a two to three cent difference.
As of Friday, March 7th, AAA reports the average price of a gallon of Diesel fuel in the Tri-Cities is $3.86 cents. That's the highest recorded price ever," according to AAA.
