Bill Gives Tribal Police More Power

Posted: Updated:

OLYMPIA, Wash. -- A bill is heading to the governor's desk that will give qualified tribal police the same authority as Washington state police officers.

Certified tribal officers would be able to enforce all criminal and traffic laws of Washington and the United States.

Right now they have to hold suspects who commit felonies until a county officer arrives.

This bill will give them power to process these suspects.
