2008 Miss Yakima County Pageant

YAKIMA, Wash. -- The 2008 Miss Yakima County Pageant and the first ever Yakima County's Outstanding Teen Pageant took place today in Yakima.

14 young women competed today in the pageants.

The winner of both pageants will receive a variety of scholarships from Miss America and the Miss Yakima County Scholarship Program.

Miss Washington, second runner up for Miss America, and Wapato native Elyse Umemoto was the guest of honor at today's pageant.

"This is my home and it makes me proud to come back as Miss Washington and as runner up to Miss America USA its an honor to bring that back here," said Umemoto.

Umemoto was there to crown Marcie Anglen the new Miss Yakima County and Reina Almon the first Yakima County Outstanding Teen.

The new Miss Yakima County will now go onto represent Yakima in the Miss Washington Pageant.
