RICHLAND, Wash - It was another gorgeous day in the Tri-Cities and a perfect time for an indoor football team to take advantage of the beautiful weather!
Today the Tri-Cities Fever kicked off their training camp out at Carmichael field in Richland. New Fever Head Coach Cedric Walker invited 29 guys to camp this year and says he will be cutting at least 4 by this Friday.
A few familiar faces donned Fever jerseys this afternoon including standout defensive backs Jamie Hattley and Ruschard Dodd-Masters as well as the explosive wide receiver J.R. Thomas.
Thomas had a great connection with last year's quarterback Brian Baker but there are three new guys under center this year. So far Coach Walker says former Washington Husky and Missouri State graduate Ryan Porter is his number one guy but adds that, "Just because he's the number one guy right now doesn't mean it's going to be that way all through camp."
Walker says his team is going to be more "blue collar" this year. "We're gonna have a really strong offensive line and protect the quarterback because I know that was a problem here last year. We're going to make sure our players are strong both on and off the field."
