Road Construction Work Zone Alerts

Posted: Updated:

Tri-Cities, Wash. - Washington DOT is asking everyone to drive carefully in  work zones this "road construction season."

According to DOT officials close to 99 percent of people injured or killed in work zone collisions are drivers and passengers, not construction workers.

Today and throughout this week on Interstate 182 on the bridge between Pasco and Richland crews will continue replacing bridge expansion  joints.  One lane in each direction will be closed.   The speed limit is being reduced from 70 mph to 55 mph in that area.  State Troopers remind drivers that fines double in construction zones.

Also in Pasco crews continue to build a pedestrian overpass across Highway 395 at Court Street.  Expect one lane to be closed again this week if your headed Eastbound on Court over the bridge.

Down at the Oregon Washington border in Umatilla, the I-82 Umatilla bridge  Tuesday the 11th to Wednesday the 12th lanes will be restricted from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. for routine inspections.
