COLUMBUS, Miss. (AP) - Barack Obama says he is "not running for vice president."

He says he doesn't know how someone who is in second place could offer the vice presidency to the person who is in first place.

He's dismissing hints from Hillary Rodham Clinton that she might welcome him as a running mate.

Obama says he doesn't want anyone to believe that they can have both Democratic hopefuls on the same ticket by picking Clinton as the nominee, telling voters point blank -- "don't think that way."

Obama told a crowd in Mississippi, "You have to make a choice in this election."

He also told the audience that it makes no sense for Clinton to suggest he is not ready to be president and then suggest that she might hand him the job that could make him president at a moment's notice.
