Coast Guard Ends Search for Missing Pendleton Teenager
PENDLETON, Or.--On Saturday, March 8th, 16-year-old Ross Barfuss showed an act of courage on Gleneden Beach in Oregon.
Barfuss, along with a brother and friend, ran into the water to save an 11-year-old boy who was having trouble with the heavy surf. The 11-year-old boy didn't survive and Barfuss never came out of the water.
Sunday (March 9th) afternoon, the U.S Coast Guard ended its search. Barfuss and his family recently moved to Beaverton, Oregon.
Friends and officials with his LDS church said Barfuss previously lived in Pendleton for eight years.
One man who knew him well said he isn't surprised by what Barfuss did.
