Yakima, WA - The Central Washington Home Builders Association is adding an environmental wrinkle to its repertoire for the "CW Home and Garden Show" this weekend in Yakima.
Green construction has become a popular trend nationally, and now, more people in the Yakima Valley are going green for the environmental benefits, as well as the potential energy savings.
So, in an effort to provide guidelines for both builders and consumers, association leaders decided to create the "Built Green" program.
"We wanted to take the lot design, the reserve efficiency, the water efficiency, the indoor air quality and see how all of these aspects come together to build a green home."
The program is still relatively new. Only 31 CWHBA members have signed up thus far.
It's taken two and a half years to develop the program.
