Sun Kings eliminated, Oklahoma Coach Explodes

Posted: Updated:

YAKIMA, Wash. - Oklahoma Coach Michael Ray Richardson had to be restrained from going after the Sun Kings Harvey Thomas Friday night. In the end, the Cavalry put the brakes on the Sun Kings season with a 103-90 win. Oklahoma wins the best-of-three series 2-0. In an embarassing situation for the CBA, the game could not be played at the SunDome. Playoff formats were amazingly NOT announced until right before the regular season ended. The Sun Kings could not reserve a date at the Sun Dome in time for the game.  Friday night there was a Home Show going on at the SunDome, so the Sun kIngs played their elimination game at Yakima Valley Community College.

At the end of the game, with the outcome already decided, Harvey Thomas was fouled hard, igniting a skirmish. The biggest blowup came from the Oklahoma Coach, Richadson. He ran out on the court and had to be restrained.  This isn't the first incident with Richardson. He coached Albany last year in the CBA Finals against Yakima, but missed one of the games because of anti-semitic remarks.

Yakama's string of two-straight CBA championships is over.  This season will be remembered for the regualr season record of 43-5, an all-time best in the CBA.
