WSU excited to be in, faces tough Winthrop team

PULLMAN, Wash. - The NCAA Tournament has arrived and Washington State is enjoying it's first back-to-back appearance in team history.

The fourth-seeded Cougars are in Denver tonight getting ready for thirteenth-seeded Winthrop, who makes the trip from South Carolina. Cougars lost last year in Round Two Vanderbilt. Having another crack is pretty fun. The novelty has not worn off at all.

"Just as exciting," said Derrick Low. "Anytime you can have a party like this with fans getting involved, it's a good thing to have. Everyone's excited to get to the NCAA tournament again."

"To be back here back to back years with our program is big time," said Coach Tony Bennett. "There is not a better time for a basketball coach or for fans than March Madness."

22-11 Winthrop should be tough on Thursday. Led by michael Jenkins who averages 14 ppg, The Eagles have made the Big Dance four years in a row.
Tipoff in Denver set for 4:30 Thursday.  Denver is the ideal destination for the Cougars.

"I didn't want to travel all the way to North Carolina or way on the East side or some place far away," said Low. "I wanted to stay around here so the trips for family and friends were a lot easier."
