Unlimited Light Hydroplane racing returns to the Tri-City Water Follies for 2008
2008 marks the return of the Unlimited Light Hydroplane Racing series to the Columbia Cup event after a one year hiatus.
Plenty of competition awaits racing fans at the Tri Cities event. In 2007 a total of twenty three teams competed including a ULHRA record 17 teams at one event. That mark could well be exceeded at Tri Cities in 2008.
"We're excited about new acts, new sponsors, and the continued enthusiasm of our race fans," says Ron Hue, 2008 President of the Tri-City Water Follies.
In addition, The Tri City Water Follies Association has been working to confirm air acts for the 2008 Over the River Air Show. The Air National Guard recently indicated that two F15's from the 173rd Fighter Wing, Air National Guard, Klamath Falls, Oregon have been slated for July 26th and 27th demonstrations. Water Follies volunteers are also pursuing additional high speed air acts and other Military demonstrations.
"Deadlines are looming for private VIP areas and sponsorships," Hue says. "We're expecting about 95% return participation and there is interest from many new sponsors as well. We've worked hard to revamp our park layout over the past couple of years to allow more access to the riverfront for race fans."
Fourteen, perhaps fifteen Unlimited Hydroplanes are expected to return to the Lampson Pits this year.
