KENNEWICK, Wash. - A public meeting about possibly consolidating all the local improvement districts areas and putting them into the Kennewick Irrigation District has been postponed.
The KID Deputy Manager Margo Hines said organizers need more time to let more people know about the possible change and conduct more studies.
The new plan is called the Formation of LID 1000. The public hearing was scheduled for March 20, 2008 at the Benton County Fairgrounds.
Hines said that postcards have been sent out to homeowners that would be affected.
She said they want to consolidate all the services because of the urbanization of the Tri-Cities. She said there are too many homeowners to be operating under different systems.
KID would operate and maintain all customers as a whole. No word on when the public hearing will take place.
There is more information on the KID website at www.kid.org.
Any homeowner that would like to formally submit a written statement can do it from present date until the new hearing is held.
