Depot Explosion Victims Honored

Posted: Updated:

HERMISTON, Oreg.- The Army honored six workers killed in an explosion at the Umatilla Weapons Depot nearly 64 years ago Wednesday.

The workers were killed when bombs being prepared for transport overseas in World War II accidentally exploded in a storage igloo.

Witnesses say the blast sent a fireball hundreds of feet into the air and left the ground nearby warm for days.
