Ferndale WA police arrest sex offender

FERNDALE, Wash. (AP) - An anonymous tip led police in Whatcom County to arrest a homeless sex offender who had not reported his whereabouts as required.

Ferndale police say 29-year-old William A. Blythe was arrested on Friday night as he left a home in Ferndale. He is a convicted child rapist and molester.

Blythe was booked into Whatcom County Jail in Bellingham on a state Department of Corrections warrant for escape from community custody.

Tacoma-Pierce County Crime Stoppers had offered a reward of up to $1,000 for information about his whereabouts. Pierce County detectives say Blythe was known to hang out in Lakewood and Seattle.

Blythe was convicted in 1993 of 3 counts of first-degree child rape, three counts of first-degree child molestation and one count of first-degree incest.
