Kiona-Benton Students Raising Money For Cancer Victim

BENTON CITY, Wash. - Normally hats aren't allowed at Kiona-Benton High School, but Tuesday they were encouraged.

Students and staff each paid a few dollars to wear hats of all shapes and sizes during the day's classes. It's the first of several fundraisers for Jessica Weston.

Weston is a Drug Intervention Specialist at Ki-Be. She's a new mother, who just found out she has severe colon and liver cancer. Students and staff are trying to raise money to help pay for hospital bills and travel expenses.

On April 1st there will be a spaghetti feed and silent auction at Kiona-Benton Middle School. It goes from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Several items up for auction include an autographed helmet from Steven Jackson of the St. Louis Rams, a football from quarterback Marc Bulger, and some memorabilia from Detroit Tiger and Pacso native Jeremy Bonderman.
