KENNEWICK, Wash.- New information about the chances of air traffic at Vista Field in Kennewick being moved to Richland.
Port Commissioners got their first look at a consulting firm's study on the possibility of closing the small airport.
It was also the first chance for the public to weigh in, with many nearby business owners who use the airport saying they may have to move if it closes, and some may leave the area completely.
"It's kind of like having your garage for your car 15 minutes away from your home, a lot more convenient if your garage is right next to your home than 15 minutes away," said Carl Cadwell, who owns nearby Cadwell Labs.
The study estimates it would cost between $5 million and $9 million to relocate air traffic and needed facilities to the Richland airport, which may cost more than the land's value if it's converted to commercial land.
