ELLENSBURG, Wash.- Coming fall of 2008, a worldwide wine program is headed to campus at Central Washington University. It's called the 'Global Wine Studies' Program.
Right now CWU offers a certification program that's 15 credits. This new program is an extension of that. It's a 50 credit program, where students can earn a Bachelor's degree.
The degree is also earned with one of eight different minors offered to compliment the wine education. We're told 15-25 students will be accepted into the new program every year.
This degree track is different from many other wine programs in the state. Instead of focusing on the wine making side of things, the 'Global Wine Studies' Program will teach students the business side of running a winery and tasting room.
