Cougar Fans Dealing With Disappointing LossPosted: Updated:
YAKIMA, Wash. -- Cougar fans packed local bars and restaurants tonight to watch their favorite team play their first game in the Sweet 16.
They hoped the game would end with a victory over North Carolina, but instead fans are dealing with a disappointing loss tonight.
It wasn't the happy ending they were hoping for tonight, but Cougs fans say they were happy the team even made it this year.
At Jackson's Sports Bar just after the start of the second half it seemed hope was fading fast.
Then came the bitter end leaving many disappointed fans.
Many people there tonight watch these games every year and just being able to see the Cougs play in the Sweet 16 was a treat for them.
In fact, we caught some people hiding from our cameras, because they actually skipped work to come and see the game. A game they felt proud to watch.
Cougs fan Shane Zuetenhorst said, "I'm disappointed, but I'm also very proud. They made the Sweet 16 and the anticipation of the whole game was incredible."
"Things could be worse, we could be sitting at home like Huskie's fans. So, you know I'm excited," said Ryan Ibach, another Cougs fan.
Some of the fans there tonight have been waiting almost forty years to see this game happen, but they are hoping with the way this coaching staff is looking that they won't have to wait as long to see it again.
