Pasco Cracking Down on Loud Music

Posted: Updated:

PASCO, Wash.- Temperatures warming up, police are warning drivers to make sure their music is down when they roll down their windows.

If not you'll land a hefty fine of $250 if you're caught for a noise violation.

That's because anything Pasco Police can hear from 75 feet away is a fine, even music from your house or your muffler on your car.

The city calls it a quality of life issue, and you don't have to have a $2,000 sound system to get a fine.

"You don't have to have a specialized system to carry music 75 feet at all you can just use a stock radio in you car and it'll carry 75 feet," said Officer Rigo Pruneda.

The City says when they survey residents about issues important to them, noise often comes to the top, that's why they're cracking down and if you don't live in Pasco, Richland has the same rules, and Kennewick's limit is only 50 feet.
