New Restaurants Moving in Downtown

Posted: Updated:

YAKIMA, Wash. -- If you like to dine out in Yakima, you will soon have two new places downtown to choose from.

Each of these restaurants will target a different customer base, ultimately providing a larger variety for everyone that comes to the downtown.

Renovations are in full swing at the future Tony's Steakhouse at Third and Yakima Avenue. The owner's vision for this restaurant is a more upscale steakhouse.

The space on Second Street once known as Pete's Nightclub will soon become the Second Street Grill. The owners of Pete's decided to change the location into a more laid back sports bar.

Chris Malland runs the Sports Center downtown, and says he welcomes the competition.

He said, "I'd like to see people get in the mindset of hey I'm going to go out for dinner ‘where do you want to go?' ‘Let's just go downtown and see what's going on down there.'"

Both restaurants are hoping to open by the middle of this summer.
