Mariners' Bullpen Falters Again in 6-4 Baltimore Win
BALTIMORE, Maryland - Luke Scott went 3-for-3 with two RBIs, and the Baltimore Orioles received solid contributions from several other newcomers tonight in a 6-4 victory over the Seattle Mariners.
Jose Vidro and Jose Lopez hit two-run homers for the Mariners, who led 2-0 in the second inning and 4-2 in the fifth. But Seattle pitchers yielded nine walks and the Mariners made four errors.
Baltimore took the lead with a three-run fifth inning against Mariners pitcher Miguel Batista, who took the loss. Melvin Mora hit a one-out single before Batista issued three straight walks to force in a run. Scott followed with an RBI single and Ramon Hernandez added a sacrifice fly to make it 5-4.
Matt Albers got the win with 1 2-3 innings of one-hit relief, and George Sherrill worked the ninth inning for his third save in three tries.
Albers and Scott were both obtained from Houston in a trade in December, and Sherrill came from the Mariners in the February swap for Erik Bedard.
