Researchers have found a connection between estrogen therapy and benign breast lumps for women. Hormone therapies using estrogen and progestin are already known to raise the risk of breast cancer.
Now a study published by the Journal of the National Cancer Institute says women using estrogen may double their chances of getting non-cancerous breast lumps.
Only women who have undergone hysterectomies are able to use estrogen only therapy. The study also says these lumps can pose potential risks for breast cancer up to 10 years after they're found.
