KENNEWICK, Wash.--Owner Bill Powers says the solar panels were installed back in February, although they've only been turned on for a few weeks.
18 solar panel modules are now attached to the Tasting Room at Badger Mountain Vineyard in Kennewick.
Powers says he wanted to bring the technology to Washington State after learning about a 30% federal tax credit for businesses.
The system costs roughly $30,000 dollars. Quite the investment for any business.
"We'll get about 25 percent of our power for this particular Tasting Room building supplied with this," mentions Powers, Owner Badger Mountain Vineyard. And we'd like to put in a big system."
Powers added he hasn't yet received his first electric bill to see the savings.
Although, compared to the Tasting Room, averaging $500 dollars a month. The electric bill for the winery..around $3,000 dollars a month during harvest.
