Neighbors Want to Move Away From Gang Violence

YAKIMA, Wash - One man is dead, another in the hospital after a gang shooting in Yakima Monday.  This is the second gang related shooting in Yakima in the last four days.

The crime scene was at an apartment complex on the 200 block of South Fair Avenue.  Police say 30-year-old Jesse Chinchuretta was shot and killed after an argument with rival gang members.  Twenty-eight-year-old Eddy Cerda was also shot several times.  Cerda is in the hospital and has asked hospital staff not to give an update on his condition.  While police are still looking for suspects, neighbors fear this may happen again.

The neighbors KNDO spoke to Tuesday have small children and are nervous about more gang activity.

"All I heard was gun shots and a guy was running back and fourth," says a woman who lives on the bottom floor of the apartment complex.  She has two small children living with her.

"My kids were outside and then I brought them in not even two or three minutes before this happened," she explains.

The neighbor says the gang activity in the area has been happening for years.

"This is a bad neighborhood, they tag up all over the wall out there, they do a lot of stuff, it's bad."

Graffiti is displayed all around the apartment complex.

"It's getting a little bit ridiculous," says a father of two who lives across the street.

They always are having read bandanas on, they have people in and out of there," he explains.

Police are still looking for suspects at this time.  The only description of a vehicle they have driving away from the scene last night is a dark older style Honda.  If you have any information call the Yakima Police Department.
