KENNEWICK, Wash.- Congressman Doc Hastings is outraged with Democrats blocking a vote that would have erased tariffs Washington crops exported to Colombia.
Hastings calls the Democrats' decision to change trade law "unprecedented."
It indefinitely delays a vote on the agreement that would erase export taxes.
"If the issue is the economy, what better way to stimulate our nation's economy than to lead the playing field and wipe out unfair barriers for our farmers," the Republican Congressman said.
Most Colombian imports to the U.S. are tariff free.
Hastings and Washington farmers don't understand taxing the difference and call it unfair.
