Light Up the Night for Crime Victim Awareness

Posted: Updated:

KENNEWICK, Wash. -- The Crime Victim Service Center hopes to light up the night to bring awareness to people affected by crime.

They hope people put special blue bulbs on their porch starting Sunday and continuing through the 19th. The plan  is to bring awareness to people who are victims of all types of crimes: including abuse, robbery, assault, and even DUI crashes.

It is all part of National Crime Victim's Awareness Week. The theme of the week is "justice for all". Now, if you want to pick up a bulb you can go to the Crime Victim Service Center, which is on Columbia Center Boulevard and Grandridge,

Or you can get one at the Pasco, Kennewick, Richland, or Prosser Police Departments. The bulbs are free. Organizers say besides bringing awareness, leaving your porch light on can also help prevent crime.
